I’m blown away by the trends pointing toward a bright (and I mean very bright) future for humanity.
There is a small group of thought leaders (often they are also tech leaders) who have inspired me to turn my life back to a time when I had a dream… and a belief (as insane as it is) that I could achieve those dreams.
Believe me, there is plenty of reason that you too should roll back your attitude to when you were fresh, green, and inexpereinced enough to actually believe you could make a differnce.
Here are a few trends that make me hopeful for us all.
Billions of human connections
People in the developing world are coming online faster that anyone had anticipated. In the next dacade, almost 5 billion new users will have access to the web. With more connectivity we have greater visibility into the challenges that exist in every corner of the globe.
Let’s see… 5 billion human beings, each having 86 billion neurons…
That’s a lot of brain power!
Low Cost of Solar and Renewables
Renewable energy is now the cheapest option, on average, for new electricity capacity around the world — in developed countries like the US as well as developing countries like India, China, Nigeria, and Mexico.
Here’s a video from Bloomberg about why solar could beat out coal in the next decade.
Nothing touches all of our lives more the the reality of our won mortality. Perhaps the younger you are the less you recognize it, but believe me there is no greater issue you will face.
Here’s 10 medical breathroughs that give me areason to look forward to turning 120… I’m not ven close to have way!
Artificial intelligence encompasses a wide range of tools, including machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing and game theory. Professor Stephen Hawking has warned that the creation of powerful artificial intelligence will be “either the best, or the worst thing, ever to happen to humanity”, and praised the creation of an academic institute dedicated to researching the future of intelligence as “crucial to the future of our civilisation and our species”.
Two California universities centers devoted to studying the ways in which AI can help humanity.
